Anouk at the beach

We went to the Spanish Bank to get some sun & play with sand. It is Anouk's "first time" experience since her birth. (too many "first time" thingy...)
Sand was very warm and we enjoyed one of the afternoon.

I love playing with bucket & scoop.

Tata showed me how to dig the hole.

Then I got full of sand all over me!!

I am super happy on the beach.

Then tata took me along the water.

I enjoyed the view from above! I did not wanna leave the beach!!

We went to see Motorcycle Race in Mission. It was Anouk's "first time" race since her birth. (2nd time since womb...) It was a bit chilly day but we enjoyed the race and also the time with brother(uncle) Nik and (auntie)Tabitha-chan.

Race has started.

I love motorcycle!! Cool!

The stairs at the stand was also fun for me.

I kept my mom busy watching me.

I enjoyed too much at the stairs!

Anouk's first birthday!!

Anouk turned a year old today! Time seems to pass so quickly. We can not believe it how fast this past year. We had her first birthday party at our home and people came to celebrate her. Thank you everyone! Anouk was very happy to see you all today. (Some of photos here are from Duncan, Monica & Tracy. Thank you!)

Her first word was "kitty" so we made a Hello Kitty cake for her.

Anouk's first Christmas

We spent 2006 Christmas at Anouk's grandparents place in Chilliwack. They have just moved into the new house in the peaceful mountain near Ryder Lake. Anouk is 9 months old now and she can express lots more than before. She enjoyed her first Christmas.
Anouk was sure happy to be surrounded by so many toys and family.

Anouk has two little teeth. The first one came out when she was 4½ months old. She has a really strong bite. So tonight we'll try feeding her food for the first time…
She's also having fun being pulled into a sitting position. She always wants to hold onto my fingers so I can pull her up.

I decided to study Kanji writing to help improve my reading ability in Japanese. I can barely speak but reading can help open up a whole new world like being able to figure out what is in that package. I'll never accidentally put skin-cream on my toothbrush again (long story).

The Kumon Kanji study book for 5-7 year old children.

This page is a bit rough because I was writing with kids jumping all over me. But you get the idea I hope.

Saori bought me a Kumon study book for about ¥940 (CDN $9.00). It's intended for 5-7 year old native speakers but it's perfect for me. There are little illustrations to help me figure out what is being written, too. The order we learn the characters in makes sense for how they are written and their relationship to each other.

There is another way to learn Kanji - it's meant for adults and includes more relevant characters for somebody working at an office for example. But it doesn't take as much consideration for the logic of how the characters are written. It jumps ahead sometimes, suddenly.

So even though I get lots of strange looks and complements I'm not sure how to take, like "Wow, you write much better than my 4 year old," - I will continue with this series of Kumon books.

We visited grandparents in Langley on the weekends. It was super super hot in the sun, but comfortable enough in the shade. Anouk fell a sleep in her stroller...zzz...
